On the official ceremony on June, 5th 2017 the finalists at the international programming contest CodeIT season 2016-2017 were announced. The contest organized by Musala Soft is under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.

The winner is Alexander Georgiev from Sofia, Principal Software Engineer at Skyscanner, a long-standing competitor at CodeIT. The second place took Ivaylo Strandzhev from Sofia, Machine Learning Engineer in HyperScience. As a great surprise, the third place at season 2016-2017 won Martin Kopchev – 7th grade student at High School for Natural Science and Mathematics “Acad. Ivan Gyuzelev“ – Gabrovo, who besides his age competed at the regular group.

The final round of the competition took place in WTC Interpred – Sofia and the ceremony was in Microsoft Innovation Center in Sofia Tech Park.

7th place – Dushko Obradovich, – Sombor, Serbia, teacher in informatics at the Sombor’s High School

8th  place – Viktor Terziev – Sofia, 11th grade at Sofia High School of Mathematics “Paisii Hilendarski”

9th place – Daniel Danailov – Jambol, 9th grade at High School for Natural Science and Mathematics “Atanas Radev”, “Shikovi Academy”

10th place – Stanislav Ivanov – Sofia, Informatics student at the New Bulgarian University, Software Engineering at HyperScience

11th place – Petar Nyagolov – Ruse, 10th grade

12th place – Nikola Sebek – Sombor, Serbia

2nd place – Cvetan Ivanov – Sofia, 8th grade at Sofia High School of Mathematics “Paisii Hilendarski”

3rd place – Dobrin Bashev – Gabrovo, 8th grade at High School for Natural Science and Mathematics “Acad. Ivan Gyuzelev”

4th place – Viktor Kozhuharov” – Ruse – 8th grade at High School for Natural Science and Mathematics “Baba Tonka”

The special guest on CodeIT, season 2016-2017 was Gleb Estropov from  Russia. The day before the finale, Gleb gave an exclusive lecture for the finalists full of knowledge, good practices, personal experience, approximation algorithms and competitive programing.

Guests to the official ceremony were many diplomats, representatives from the private sector, business, NGO, IT Associations etc. Elena Marinova, President of Musala Soft was host of the event. Some of the special guests were Rosen Plevneliev, President of Bulgaria (22 January 2012 – 22 January 2017); Donco Barbalov – Dep. Mayor of Sofia Municipality; acad. Julian Revalski, President of BAS; H. Pr. Marian Gyorchev, Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the Republic of Bulgaria, Prof. Georgi Mihov – Rector of the Technical University and many others. “We can compare with the most prestige competitions in programming in the world! CodeIT unconditionally supports the interest of the IT community, effectively operating with the challenges.” – the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, shared in his written address sent for the contestants and the guests of the ceremony.

Additional information: CodeIt (http://codeit.bg/) is the oldest private competition in Informatics and competitive programming in Bulgaria. Organizer is the software company Musala Soft. . The competition is held annually in 6 rounds without attendance and a final attendance round with the partnership of companies, non-governmental organizations, IT associations and leading educational institutions in Bulgaria. To the big final will go the best twelve competitors through the season. The final round and the awarding of the participants in the competition is organized under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. The chief representative of the competition jury is Krasimir Manev, President of the “International Olympiad in Informatics” /IOI/ and a chairman of the initiative committee of the First european junior olympiad in informatics, Bulgaria 2017.
