CodeIT New Season Launching on October 19 CodeIT New Season Launching on October 19

One month is left until the start of the 19-th edition of the International Programming Contest CodeIT – the most prestigious private programming contest in Bulgaria and one of the oldest in the world which Musala Soft has been organizing since 2000. Season 2018/19 will also bring unforgettable experiences and challenges to all participants – the best talents in competitive programming from Bulgaria and the Balkans region.

CodeIT is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. An honorary chair of the jury is again Prof. Krassimir Manev, President of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2014-2017 and President of the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (eJOI). He is among the teachers that made the most medalists in Informatics in Bulgaria. The contest is also supported by government and academic institutions, professional and business organizations.

According to the contest rules, there are six preliminary online rounds and a grand final in Sofia. Only those who have the best results in the preliminary rounds will reach the final – 12 finalists from the general ranking and 5 from the junior ranking (up to 8th grade). There are not any age limitations for participation in the contest but currently the participants are mainly high-school and university students with interests in the area of algorithms and competitive programming, many of them medalists from national and international olympiads and other contests.

At the grand final of CodeIT, the best contestants have the chance to meet an internationally famous guru of competitive informatics who shares with them advice from his personal experience as a contestant. This year, a guest at the final will be Scott Wu – a three-time IOI gold medalist and the overall IOI winner in 2014. He went to Harvard, where he won a gold medal at the ICPC world finals in 2016. He previously worked at Addepar, Hudson River Trading, and Jane Street and is now the co-founder of a stealth startup in San Francisco. Scott started competing in programming contests in 2009 and still competes and commentates for fun. His favorite contest algorithm is sqrtN bucketing.

The first round of CodeIT Season 2018/19 will be held online for 3 weeks. The invitation to become a patron of first round was accepted by Prof. hristo Beloev, Rector of Ruse University “Angel Kanchev”.

The website of CodeIT will soon be refreshed with the new visuals for the coming season of the International Programming Contest. An archive of previous editions of the contest is available there, including tasks, solutions and ranking.

The International Programming Contest CodeIT is one of the longest lasting initiatives of Musala Soft, part of the corporate social responsibility policy and the strategy of the company to encourage everyone interested in algorithms, programming and information technologies.
